Aino Alisa Järvinen is a Tulsa-born ghoul and author of dark, twisted tales. After escaping the cult in which she was raised, and which nearly ended her life, Aino began writing to process trauma.
She creates genre-bending novels that weave myth and fantasy into the real world. Her stories feature characters who overcome traumatic events and conquer their own limiting beliefs as well as physical monsters.
Aino's works are suitable for mature adult fans of Janet Fitch's literary prose, Anne Rice's family sagas, Scarlett St. Clair's use of myth in a modern setting, Silvia Moreno-Garcia's speculative fiction, Sunyi Dean's fantasy fiction, and Poppy Z. Brite's bloody horror romance.
Her debut short story, "Coin-Operated Boy," appears in Issue 014 of Dark Matter Magazine (as Aia Järvinen). "Cat's Eye," appears in Dark Matter Magazine's Halloween Special Issue 003 (as Aia Järvinen).
She won a santoku for the best knife skills in her culinary class, has been a theatre stage manager, film extra, worked for an indie soap company, and lived/worked on a vineyard.
She shares a birthday with author Billy Martin (A.K.A. Poppy Z. Brite).
Aino lives in Oklahoma with her partner and fur goblin.
